This season hasn't been kind to the Southern Lee Cavaliers, who are still winless after their 14th match. They were beaten by Richmond 67-17 on Friday. Southern Lee has not had much luck with Richmond recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richmond to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamyia "Juicy" Lindsey, who scored 27 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lindsey has scored at least a third of Richmond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah "JoJo" Gilchrist, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals.
Southern Lee dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Richmond, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Lee will face off against Scotland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scotland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern Lee in North Carolina (Scotland is ranked 123rd, while Southern Lee is ranked 574th). Richmond on the road again on Tuesday and play against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Pinecrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday.
