The Christ the King Gladiators''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 38-0 defeat at the hands of Chicago Christian. Christ the King was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Among those leading the charge was Christian Flutman, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Obadiah Goble, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Christ the King to a paltry 25 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chicago Christian's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Brock Sperling.
Christ the King's defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Chicago Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christ the King will take on Chicago Hope Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chicago Hope Academy will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Chicago Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Aurora Christian at 7:15 p.m.
