Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Evadale Rebels, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Overton on Thursday, falling 40-9. Evadale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Overton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2019.
Ethan Buford threw for 79 yards on eight of 20 attempts. Devin Terrell was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards.
Overton was led to victory by Isaiah Hawkins and Bryce Still. Hawkins picked up 140 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Still threw for 223 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Evadale to a paltry 92 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Overton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Kash Fletcer and his two sacks.
Evadale's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Overton, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Evadale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Overton will take on Mart at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mart is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
