The North Callaway Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 59-37 loss at the hands of Eldon. While losing is never fun, North Callaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Eldon is ranked 130th).
North Callaway lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sam Pezold, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pezold pulled down eight or more rebounds. Austin Brown was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
North Callaway's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Eldon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
North Callaway won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. New Bloomfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Eldon, they will head out on the road to face off against South Callaway at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
