Baseball Recap: Miamisburg Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Miamisburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the St. Xavier Bombers by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Reed Warner looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Miamisburg's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 7-13 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Miamisburg's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jake Craiglow, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Craiglow has posted since back in April. Andrew Hoerner was another, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Miamisburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Miamisburg's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for St. Xavier, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-12 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miamisburg will host Tippecanoe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Xavier, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Anderson at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Bombers have won three straight at home, while the Raptors won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
