Luis Antigua was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Ogden International is 3-1 when Antigua posts two or more runs, but 7-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Johncarlos German, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Disney II never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Steinmetz College Prep on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Silver Streaks. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Maximus Sanchez was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Marcus Grier and Cesar Urquieta did most of the damage at the plate: Grier got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Urquieta got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Urquieta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Cruz, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Disney II always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steinmetz College Prep only posted an OBP of .355.
Disney II's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Ogden International, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ogden International has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Disney II struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ogden International's way against Disney II in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, as Ogden International made off with a 21-1 victory. Does Ogden International have another victory up their sleeve, or will Disney II turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
