Baseball Recap: South Medford Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

South Medford had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the South Eugene Axe. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Maximus Ihli looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Easton Douglas and Brad Love did most of the damage at the plate: Douglas went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Love went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Douglas has snagged this season. Keegan Painter was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

South Medford's record now sits at 12-9. As for South Eugene, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Medford will challenge Grants Pass at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Eugene, they will take on North Medford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Black Tornado's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Axe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
