The Braden River Pirates fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They claimed a resounding 35-7 win over Southeast at home. That's another feather in the cap for Braden River, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Yahshua Edwards continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 140 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Another player making a difference was Lucas Despot, who threw for 134 yards and four touchdowns.
Braden River's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Southeast and 1-8 Gainesville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25% over those games). As for Southeast, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Braden River will take on Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Manatee presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast in Florida (Manatee is ranked 78th, while Southeast is ranked 417th).
