The St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Paxton-Buckley-Loda 50-21 on the road. Given St. Joseph-Ogden's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Paxton-Buckley-Loda is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Logan Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 281 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. St. Joseph-Ogden also got help from Tanner Siems who showed off his sure hands for 119 receiving yards.
Paxton-Buckley-Loda's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayden Vance, who rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns, and Robert Boyd-meents who gained 101 total yards and a touchdown.
St. Joseph-Ogden's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
St. Joseph-Ogden will take on Carlinville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carlinville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they will head out on the road to face off against Princeton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Princeton will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
