Dixon has won 15 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Heide Trask has won 15 straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Dixon Bulldogs will welcome the Heide Trask Titans at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Dixon got the win against East Carteret by a conclusive 11-1.
Kailei Dawsey was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Alivia Nokes and Lilly Keeling did most of the damage at the plate: Nokes went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Keeling got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That triple marked the first that Nokes hit this season. Addison Woods was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Dixon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heide Trask). They blew past Hobbton 26-6 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.
Heide Trask got a massive performance out of Makayla Smith, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Smith continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shelby Groves, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Heide Trask's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Dixon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Heide Trask's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Dixon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Heide Trask, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Dixon keep running through batters, or will Heide Trask buck the trend?
Dixon couldn't quite get it done against Heide Trask in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can Dixon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
