The Trona Tornadoes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lone Pine Golden Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Trona will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Thursday, Trona was fully in charge, breezing past Lighthouse Christian 52-24 at home.
Among those leading the charge was Marcus McCurdy, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Another reason for the win was Trona's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Lighthouse Christian's QB won't forget Caid McCullar anytime soon given McCullar sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, even though Mojave scored an imposing 36 points on Friday, Lone Pine still came out on top. Lone Pine put the hurt on Mojave with a sharp 56-36 win.
Lone Pine's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ralph Enriquez Jr., who rushed for 100 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Hilliard, who rushed for 43 yards and four touchdowns.
Trona's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Lone Pine, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 3-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Trona has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lone Pine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 167.7 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Trona was dealt a bruising 50-14 loss at the hands of Lone Pine in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Trona, Christopher Dominguez (who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 91 yards and a touchdown while completing 88.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
