Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 22% better than the opposition, a fact the Fillmore Flashes proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-36 victory over Hueneme. For Fillmore, this counts as revenge for the 49-48 loss the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Fillmore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Octavio Orozco, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Orozco is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joey Ocegueda, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Benito Gutierrez, who scored six points along with three steals. Jayani Cortez was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fillmore has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-18 record this season. As for Hueneme, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season.
Fillmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hueneme also has no future games currently scheduled.
