Given Leadership Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while College Prep & Leadership Academy is ranked 616th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ali Faenza, who scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Faenza scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Guldberg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Leadership Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Leadership Academy will head out on the road to challenge North Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. College Prep & Leadership Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against GRACE Christian at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th.
