Pittsburg hasn't had much luck against Carthage recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pirates will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pittsburg took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Spring Hill, posting a 52-7 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lane Hall was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 85 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kord Johnson, who threw for 100 yards and one touchdown on perfect 6-for-6 passing.
Meanwhile, Carthage won against Rusk two weeks ago with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs took their game with ease, bagging a 56-8 win over Brownsboro. The Bulldogs' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Carthage's win came from a few key players Pittsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kj Edwards, who rushed for 217 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Sean Bundy also helped out as he racked up 127 rushing yards.
Carthage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
One reason for the win was Carthage's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Zay Owens was the leader with two.
Pittsburg's record now sits at 7-3. As for Carthage, their record is now 10-0.
Pittsburg took a serious blow against Carthage when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 56-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bulldogs' Jett Surratt, who threw for 261 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes. Now that the Pirates know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
