Softball Recap: Fortuna Has No Trouble Against St. Bernard's

While Fortuna put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for St. Bernard. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Crusaders. Considering the Huskies have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evalynn Little, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Castillo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fortuna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Fortuna's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for St. Bernard's, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Fortuna has already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against South Fork on the 15th. St. Bernard's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
