The Elite Academy Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They managed a 52-48 win over Wekiva.
Leading Elite Academy to victory were Ladainian Brooks and Kyler Theophile. Brooks almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, while Theophile scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Theophile has scored at least 25% of Elite Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Morgan, who scored nine points.
The victory got Elite Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Wekiva, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Elite Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Tournament Opponent on December 29th. Wekiva will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024.
