The Northwest Mounties will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Stockbridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Northwest will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Northwest got the win against Harper Creek by a conclusive 51-30. Given Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Harper Creek is ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge struggled with threes on Tuesday (Ovid-Elsie had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Stockbridge took a 64-50 bruising from Ovid-Elsie.
Stockbridge's loss came about despite a quality game from Alaina Kellenberger, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Kellenberger hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Taylor Lockhart was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Stockbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Everything came up roses for Northwest against Stockbridge in their previous meeting back in January of 2016 as the team secured a 72-32 win. Does Northwest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stockbridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
