Arianna Mitchell put in work no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2025. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Gabby Kendricks was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Macie Payne was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, McGavock scored first but ultimately less than LaVergne in their contest on Wednesday. They fell 10-5 to the Wolverines.
Micayla Russell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Jasmine Dahl made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
McGavock now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Antioch, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Antioch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .449. However, it's not like McGavock struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
