Mount Vernon got a massive performance out of Isabella Erpestad, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those four runs gave Erpestad a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Grimsley, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Edison finally came back down to earth on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Hayfield. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.
Mount Vernon's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mount Vernon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
