The Coweta Tigers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They breezed by East Central at home to the tune of 45-12. Given Coweta's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while East Central is ranked 172nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Konnor Dunn, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Donavon Jackson, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Coweta's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.7 points per game. As for East Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coweta will take on Del City at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Del City is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for East Central, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Glenpool at 7:00 p.m.
