Englewood is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and Aurora Central a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Englewood Pirates will host the Aurora Central Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Englewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Englewood nor Denver West made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Pirates came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 12-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Bobby Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, David Claveria was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Russo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Aurora Central scored first but ultimately less than Skyview in their game on Monday. They lost 13-3 to the Wolverines.
Aurora Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirby Colbert-Olson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Aurora Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Englewood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Englewood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Aurora Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Englewood beat Aurora Central 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
