The Hays Indians will be home for the holidays to greet the Heights Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hays will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Heights is ranked 23rd).
Last Friday, Hays came up short against Junction City and fell 58-48. Hays has not had much luck with Junction City recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Heights put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Southeast at home to the tune of 66-32. Fans of Heights have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amalachi Wilkins, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. T.J. Williams was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Hays now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Heights, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Hays might still be hurting after the 76-51 defeat they got from Heights when the teams last played back in January of 2018. Thankfully for Hays, Devin Davis (who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
