Basketball Recap: Tayla Stovall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Battle Ground Academy over Columbia Academy

If Battle Ground Academy was riding high fresh off their 66-41 takedown of University School of Nashville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats fell 52-43 to the Columbia Academy Bulldogs on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 61-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tayla Stovall, who went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points and three steals. Those 21 points gave Stovall a new career-high. Khloe Burton was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Battle Ground Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Columbia Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats duke it out with the Franklin Road Academy Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbia Academy, they will take on Middle Tennessee Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
