Fairfield Union waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Waverly Tigers by a score of 8-3.

Ashton Waldrop made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Waldrop wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Dilcher, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Dilcher has posted since back in April of 2024.

Fairfield Union's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waverly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Fairfield Union will square off against Circleville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Waverly, they will face off against Northwest at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mohawks will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
