The Cortland Purple Tigers were the 61-50 winner over the Mexico Tigers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Cortland suffered a tough 69-44 defeat at the hands of Mexico on Tuesday. Cortland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-18.
Cortland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quinn Woodard, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Ethan Johnson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Cortland dropped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mexico, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cortland will square off against Skaneateles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mexico, they will head out on the road to take on Manlius Pebble Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mexico is facing Manlius Pebble Hill at the right time seeing as Manlius Pebble Hill is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
