Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Holly walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Springfield Longhorns on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-5 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Truman King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Holly is undefeated when King allows three or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. King was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drayden Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Edson Noriega, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Holly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Holly pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
