On Friday, the Huntington Highlanders faced the Shady Spring Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Huntington came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 81-68. The victory was familiar territory for Huntington who now have three in a row.
Huntington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikey Johnson led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine assists. Johnson hasn't dropped below 21 points for three straight games. Jayden Clark was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Huntington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Shady Spring, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Huntington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Mohigans at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Morgantown has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 683 points over their last eight games. Shady Spring is on the road again on Monday and plays the Polar Bears at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th. Fairmont Senior will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
