Baseball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Triumphs

Port of Los Angeles came out on top against Fremont on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Polar Bears took their match against the Pathfinders 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Polar Bears: when they faced off against the Pathfinders back in March, they had to take a 5-0 loss.

Jonathan Rosette made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Port of Los Angeles is 8-4 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Rosette was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Damian Ochoa was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Port of Los Angeles is undefeated when Ochoa posts three or more hits, but 6-8 otherwise. Jessie Guevara was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Port of Los Angeles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Port of Los Angeles now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Fremont, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6.

Coming up, Port of Los Angeles will take on Rolling Hills Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Fremont, they will challenge Dorsey at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
