Everett proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northern Bedford County Panthers, sneaking past 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Chase Sherwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Sherwood was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Everett let Cody Spade and Johnathan Cooper run wild. Spade scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Cooper scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Fannett Metal's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Everett's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northern Bedford County, they will challenge Tussey Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
