Whitehorse is 9-0 against Northwest since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Whitehorse Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Northwest Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Whitehorse was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Monticello. Whitehorse has struggled against Monticello recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Whitehorse saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lyric Phillips, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 46.7% of Whitehorse's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Larenz Tsosie, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Northwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their sixth straight loss. They took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tse' Yi' Gai.
Whitehorse now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Northwest, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Whitehorse against Northwest in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 as the team secured a 79-23 win. With Whitehorse ahead 46-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
