Despite the loss, Cardinal Newman saw an underclassman step up: Katie Kent scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Westminster Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Academy will take on Miami Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miami Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Westminster Academy is ranked 29th). Cardinal Newman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Seminole Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
