Northern Bedford County and Tussey Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northern Bedford County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Tussey Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Northern Bedford County and Everett meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Panthers came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1.
Aaron Bowers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Northern Bedford County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Tussey Mountain came up short against Mount Union on Thursday and fell 8-3.
Owen Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Landon Myers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Noah Lucko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Northern Bedford County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tussey Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Northern Bedford County was able to grind out a solid victory over Tussey Mountain in their previous matchup back in April, winning 3-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
