The McCollum Cowboys will head out on the road to square off against the Jay Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCollum is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
McCollum managed to slip by Southwest the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. McCollum lost 9-2 to Southwest on Tuesday. The Cowboys' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

RUIZ MADELYNN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McCollum saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MARTINEZ LAUREN, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Jay played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Southwest Legacy. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Esperanza Amezquita made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Amezquita was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Rosas, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zareth Gomez, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Jay picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-9. As for McCollum, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.
McCollum's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. McCollum has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jay, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will McCollum continue to outrun the ball?
McCollum skirted past Jay 4-3 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for McCollum since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
