The Welch Wildcats won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They were beaten by Wesleyan Christian 55-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Welch has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Welch had strong showings from Deighton Bellew, who scored four points along with three steals, and Joseph Clinton, who scored no points.
Welch's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Wesleyan Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.
Welch will head out on the road to challenge Covington-Douglas at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Covington-Douglaspresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Welch in Oklahoma (Covington-Douglas is ranked 212th, while Welch is ranked 444th).
