Softball Recap: Denham Springs Wins Going Away Against Maurepas

Denham Springs's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Maurepas Wolves as Denham Springs made off with a 15-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Paisley Berry was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Berry wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anna Herod, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kinsley Thevenot also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Denham Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Maurepas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denham Springs will head out to face off against East Ascension at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Ascension has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.48 runs per game on average), something Denham Springs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maurepas, they are taking a road trip to challenge Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
