After flying high against East Rowan on Saturday, Carrboro came back down to earth. The Jaguars fell just short of the Person Rockets by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. If the Jaguars were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Rockets when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Carrboro wouldn't go down easily and took Person into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11.
Carson McGuire paced Carrboro's offense, picking up 13 kills. McGuire got some help from Camille Rucker and her 28 assists. Hayley Royal and Avery Sadiq kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.
Leading Person to victory were Alex Fuller and Logan Hurdle. Fuller had 24 digs and five assists, while Hurdle had 13 digs and two aces. Fuller is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
Carrboro dropped their record down to 3-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Person, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Coming up, Carrboro will welcome Chapel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Person, they will head out to take on Orange at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
