The Amesbury Redhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Cohasset Skippers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Amesbury had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 34-18 victory over West Bridgewater on Friday.
Meanwhile, Cohasset put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mashpee 35-8 at home. 35 seems to be a good number for Cohasset as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Cohasset's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Liam Appleton, who gained 100 total yards and three touchdowns, and Michael Wildfire, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Cohasset's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Ben Henry was the leader with two sacks.
Amesbury's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Hamilton-Wenham Regional and 1-9 Ipswich (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.2% over those games). As for Cohasset, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
