The Bruce Trojans will face off against the Calhoun City Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Bruce beats Calhoun City with 20 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Trojans didn't even let Water Valley on the board on Tuesday, marking the Trojans' second-straight 20-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Sammie Gunter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Bruce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Water Valley only posted an OBP of .182.

Not much got past Olivia Vance, who gave up just two hits to keep Water Valley off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justiyah Pittman, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Kellum, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
The win got Bruce back to even at 9-9. As for Calhoun City, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bruce has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .567. However, it's not like Calhoun City struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bruce skirted past Calhoun City 10-8 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
