Plant City is a perfect 8-0 against Tampa Bay Tech since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Plant City's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past King 23-0. The win was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won five contests in a row.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Kyleigh Gibbs looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Samantha Raines was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Peytan Benjamin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Plant City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .815. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Tech hadn't done well against Brandon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Titans were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Eagles. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Tampa Bay Tech got a massive performance out of Jaida T, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn M, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Plant City pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plant City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .446. However, it's not like Tampa Bay Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Plant City's way against Tampa Bay Tech when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Plant City made off with a 13-2 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
