Maine South posted their closest win since April 28th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Vernon Hills Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leo Trespeces-Winck paced Maine South's offense, picking up 15 kills. Trespeces-Winck got some help from Gabriel Redzic and his 33 assists. Redzic was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Maine South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. As for Vernon Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.
