Baseball Game Preview: Barnsdall Panthers vs. Copan Hornets

Barnsdall is 9-1 against Copan since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Barnsdall faced off against Woodland on Tuesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with an 8-8 draw.

Meanwhile, Copan waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Zander Street was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Stricklin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Copan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Copan's record now sits at 14-6. Barnsdall's draw makes their record 13-10-1 this season.

Barnsdall skirted past Copan 3-1 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
