Robert Kellen Turns in Season-Best Effort
On Thursday, Independence got the W thanks in part to Robert Kellen playing the best football he has all season. Kellen rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Independence's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
The victory got Independence back to even at 3-3. Kellen and Independence will take on Riverside on Friday.

Xavier Dillard Turns in Another Game with at Least Six Total Tackles
Sadly, Xavier Dillard posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Lightridge over Independence on Thursday. Dillard wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles (3.0 for loss). The contest was his 15th straight with six or more total tackles dating back to last season.
Independence's probably not too fond of Dillard given he always seems to get the better of them. When Dillard last faced the back in October of 2023, he made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes.
