The Edinburgh Lancers were the 69-59 winner over the Franklin County Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Edinburgh fell to Franklin County 52-48. Edinburgh found out winning isn't easy when you make five fewer threes than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Edinburgh lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Connor Ramey. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. That was a full 50% of Edinburgh's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jackson Hartwell was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Eli Butt was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with three steals for Franklin County. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Kemp, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Edinburgh's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Franklin County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edinburgh will take on Crothersville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edinburgh is facing Crothersville at the right time seeing as Crothersville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Franklin County, they will head out on the road to square off against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield-Central will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something Franklin County surely won't give up without a fight.
