Parrish Community has gone 6-1 against Braden River recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Parrish Community will head out on the road to challenge Braden River at 7:00 p.m. Parrish Community is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
While Parrish Community's victory against Lakewood Ranch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Parrish Community had just enough and edged out Lakewood Ranch 4-3.
Parrish Community got a great performance from Daniel Norbeck as he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Norbeck also tossed three walks, marking his first of the season.
At the plate, Parrish Community let Tyler Brown and Tyler Cripe run wild. Brown scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Cripe scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs Brown has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jayden Peters, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Braden River and Riverview Sarasota have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. Braden River's pitchers stepped up to hand Riverview Sarasota a 15-0 shutout. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.
Nicholas Beatrice looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Braden River got a big performance out of Jacoby Cox, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Cox is becoming a predictor of Braden River's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Jackson Williams was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Braden River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Parrish Community pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Braden River, their record is now 9-7.
Braden River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Parrish Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. It's a different story for Braden River, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain Parrish Community's hitters?
Parrish Community was able to grind out a solid win over Braden River when the teams last played back in February, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parrish Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
