The Horace Mann UCLA Community Panthers's 12-3-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 58-49 to New West Charter on Friday. Horace Mann UCLA Community lost against New West Charter in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 48-6 score last time.
New West Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Hakimi, who scored 29 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hakimi has scored at least 25% of New West Charter's points. Armon Behikeesh was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Horace Mann UCLA Community's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for New West Charter, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Horace Mann UCLA Community will be playing in front of their home fans against Middle College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Middle College is ranked 900th, while Horace Mann UCLA Community is ranked 885th). New West Charter is on the road again on Monday and play against Triumph Charter at 4:30 p.m. on December 4th. Triumph Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63 points per game.
