The Mendenhall Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 62-39 defeat at the hands of Quitman. While losing is never fun, Mendenhall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Quitman is ranked 18th).
Quitman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AUDRIANA HARRIS, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which HARRIS has scored at least a third of Quitman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of KIARRA THOMPSON, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Mendenhall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Quitman, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Forest the next time they take the court. Quitman will head out to face Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Mendenhall will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
