Last Tuesday, Crooms Academy was the victim of a rough 77-56 loss at the hands of Orangewood Christian. Crooms Academy has not had much luck with Orangewood Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Crooms Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Aristile, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds, and Maxim Micallef who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Aristile's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was D'Elio Cestero, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Circle Christian had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Family Christian Academy with a 60-56 victory on Thursday. Circle Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Circle Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Lion, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lion scored 15 or more points. Noah Whisler was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.
Crooms Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Circle Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Crooms Academy came up short against Circle Christian in their previous meeting back in February, falling 69-60. Can Crooms Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
