With a playoff game on the line, the St. John Paul II Panthers rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 42-37 W over the Marauders. The win was just what St. John Paul II needed coming off of a 37-13 loss in their prior game.
Maclay's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nash Beshears, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 87 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was George Grant, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.
St. John Paul II has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Maclay, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
St. John Paul II will head out on the road to face off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jp Pickles and Tremaine Hughes Jr.. Maclay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
