Williams has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Williams struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Western Alamance had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Williams was outmatched by Western Alamance at home and fell 73-36. While losing is never fun, Williams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Western Alamance is ranked 56th).
Despite the defeat, Williams saw an underclassman step up: Regan Averett scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Scout Winter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge was beaten by Western Alamance 73-37 on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cedar Ridge in their matchups with Western Alamance: they've now lost seven in a row.
Williams has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Cedar Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Williams beat Cedar Ridge 54-42 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williams since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
