The Elk Grove Thundering Herd pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 58-56.
Despite the loss, Elk Grove still got an impressive performance from Vinny Gonzales, who scored 18 points. The matchup was Gonzales' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Liam Acido, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Elk Grove were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Lincoln to victory were Jacob Butler and Roman Snyder. Butler scored six points along with eight rebounds and six blocks, while Snyder scored 21 points. Butler set a new season high mark in assists with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian DeFoe, who scored six points.
Elk Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lincoln, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Elk Grove won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Antelope at 4:00 p.m. on December 8th. Averaging 70.2 so far this season, Antelope's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Elk Grove better be ready for a challenge. Lincoln will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th.
